Sydney Sixers star Dan Christian joined Tim Gilbert on the SCG Podcast in National Reconciliation Week (May 27 – June 3, 2021) to talk the importance of Reconciliation in the community.

"It's a really important week, a really great week for everyone to recognise Indigenous culture and heritage. We need to keep creating awareness of all the issues Indigenous people face and what they're trying to deal with, every day," Christian said of the week.

"I've been really vocal trying to create some awareness... the theme of the week being about actions – and not words – it starts at a government level for sure."

For the first time in the franchise’s 11-year history, the Sydney Sixers will wear a specially designed Indigenous jersey at this Saturday’s match against the Hurricanes (December 11).

Christian and Sixers WBBL Ashely Gardner star have teamed up with local artist Jordan Ardler (Bidjigal Woman) to create a design that represents the players’ totems and mobs, and the paths taken by their teammates to come together in Sydney.

The BBL’s First Nations Round will officially take place when the Sixers take a home match to Coffs Harbour later in the season. The signed, match-worn jerseys will be auctioned off, with funds going to support the Sixers’ Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community programs.
